Texas Army National Guard
This is a placeholder as a reminder to never serve any units within the TXARNG. Below is an unhinged email chain, like all email chains please read it from the bottom to the top for proper context.
Jonathan,
Very ignorant. I reported it when I learned of it, which was earlier this year. This was not a decade ago, this was about 9 months ago. As already mentioned, the leadership in the WAARNG deliberately looked the other way. I've also provided evidence to DAIG on COL Barrow for refusing to take a UA and BG Sellars for covering it up. The leadership in the WAARNG has challenges with integrity and enforcing judicial and non-judicial punishment fairly and consistently throughout the organization. I am also a whistleblower in a federal fraud case that has had negative consequences professionally and comes with a lot of personal risk. I'm not trying to be morally superior to anyone, but I'm not the guy to let things like that go. It's just wrong. And this situation isn't central to my identity, when you emailed it was a target of opportunity. It's called a logical fantasy when you change the circumstances of an argument and introduce false statements to alter meaning.
You also don't know anything about my business or my service. Again, very ignorant, but I see that doesn't stop or even slow you down. I have my own production facility and belong to a network of professional facilities so when we are over-capacity I outsource production to ensure Soldiers get their order in a timely manner. I've built my business from the ground up and I'm very grateful to all those we serve. It's been a long, tough road, but I've earned my success and I'm also proud of my service and multiple combat deployments. However, I've never served as a retention NCO for a guard unit and wish you luck with sourcing the plaques that you need.
You didn't call anyone out, you're just representing yourself and your organization in the worst possible light. You're creating scenarios in your head, scared of the thought of doing something, and now rationalizing and justifying your actions by creating the scenario that you are some sort of hero by calling out a bad guy.
You could have just taken the information and observed. Maybe remind any junior Soldiers under you about appropriate and inappropriate conduct at work. Maybe go over what grooming looks like. None of that requires any names mentioned and is appropriate professional development quarterly. However, instead of thinking of others, you thought of yourself and created some scenario involving personal risk that put you in an over-emotional state. At the end of the day, you have someone in your formation that has groomed a junior Soldier. That is not gossip, that's caution.
I'll reach out to the leadership in the TXARNG to see if they want to do anything.
I actually think you may need to go talk to someone. I don't know you, but you've restructured a simple warning to imagining you are some hero and think being a keyboard warrior is tough and admirable while ignoring the obvious concern. It is easy to dismiss you, especially if this how you act while representing the TXARNG, but I don't know if you just have a lot going on in life and need someone to talk to. I know it can be difficult to read tone sometimes, but I'm actually being sincere on this point.
